Battle of screen size
Let's talk about the screen size for the home. A modern TV is around 80 inches, some TVs are even larger, like the Samsung 'The Wall' which is 292 inches. In the world of TVs, these are monsters and it's unthinkable. It's beyond one's means. On the other hand, an average projector starts at 100 inches and goes up to 150, 200, 300, or even 400 inches. In the battle of screen sizes, projectors are the clear winners, and in this category, beating a projector is almost impossible even in the near future.
Battle of contrast ratio
Let's talk about the contrast ratio. First, what is contrast ratio in simple words? Contrast ratio is the difference between dark and bright colors. For example, the contrast ratio of a Samsung 43-inch OLED TV is 1,000,000:1. This means that in this TV, the bright colors are one million times brighter than the dark colors. Higher contrast ratio means deeper black colors and better picture quality overall. On the other hand, projectors also have a contrast ratio, like the Optoma UHD 50, which has a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. If there's light on in your room, such a high contrast ratio or brightness won't have the right impact. You won't get the correct picture quality. In terms of contrast ratio, the winner is undoubtedly the TV. You should go for the TV if you can't control the light in your home.
Battle of resolution
Let's talk about resolution—who wins and who loses first. What is resolution? It's the total number of colored dots (pixels) that fill the complete screen within an image. For instance, Full HD resolution means 1920x1080 pixels, indicating that there are 1920 dots in one line on the screen, totaling 1920 pixels, and similarly, there are 1080 lines that make up a full HD image on the whole screen. So, all in all, the more pixels there are, the better the picture quality, and the higher the detail in the picture. Everyone's crazy about 4K these days—both TVs and projectors can handle 4K resolution. But if you compress 4K content and watch it on a small TV, will it be enjoyable? No. If you want to enjoy 4K content, go for a big screen. When it comes to resolution, projectors clearly win.
Battle of maintenance
Now let's see who is better in terms of maintenance. Modern LED TVs are maintenance-free, or you can say they might need very little maintenance. However, the maintenance of a projector can depend on its lamp type. There are four types of projector lamps: metal halide, LED projector, laser projector, and hybrid projector. Among all these display technologies, the LED projector performs the best and requires very little maintenance. Additionally, one issue with projectors is that you need to keep them dust-free. So, in the battle of maintenance, it's a clear win for TV
Battle of installation & space
Installing a modern TV is simply a hands-on task and is perfect even for rooms with limited space. On the other hand, installing a projector, especially ceiling-mounted, is a bit more challenging. Additionally, for a projector, you'll need a bigger room to enjoy the big screen experience. So, in the battle of installation and space, the TV emerges as the winner.
Conclusion
So, now let's discuss what my choice is. Since the price of projectors has decreased in the market, this confusion battle has started about which is better, a projector or a TV. In my opinion, it's subjective and depends on your room and personal interests. My recommendation is, if your room has more windows and doors and you can't control the light in your room, then you should go with a TV. And if you can control the light in your room, then you must opt for a good projector. My favorite gadget without any doubt or confusion is the projector; I just love projectors. So, okay guys, this is it. See you next time, and if you found any value in this article, share it with your friends and family; it'll benefit them too. Till then, bye-bye guys, keep rocking, and stay safe
