So, this is the iPhone 12. And the biggest question is whether is iPhone 12 still worth buying now?
Highlights
• Display • speakers • camera • performance in 2024 • negative points
1.Display
"Now, when we talk about the display here, there's no compromise in the display except for one thing, let me tell you about the display. You get an OLED display, which has a high contrast ratio. You get a brightness of 625 nits, which can go up to 1200 nits when opening HDR content for outdoor visibility. You won't encounter any problems viewing the display; the viewing angles are perfect without any flaws. Apple's quality is so good that when using their display, it's of excellent quality. The display of the iPhone 11 was also of very good quality, and the iPhone 12, being OLED, is even better. Now, one negative point I'm mentioning is the 60Hz refresh rate in the display, which is present in all iPhones, even in the non-pro model of the iPhone 14 in 2022 and 2023. If you choose the non-pro version, it will still have a 60Hz refresh rate. This might be seen as a drawback by those who are used to or expecting a 120Hz refresh rate. However, if you've seen the 120Hz refresh rate in mid-range Android phones, I suggest physically checking this out at a store before making a decision. Anyways, this could be a personal preference for everyone, so it's advisable to try it out before buying."
2.speakers
"Apart from that, this phone has dual speakers. So, you won't face any issues in entertainment, whether you're gaming or watching a movie. There's one speaker at the bottom and the other on the ear side."
3.camera
"Now, talking about the cameras, the cameras here are fantastic, similar to those in the iPhone. There's no doubt you'll have a lot of fun according to the money you're paying. The back has two 12MP cameras, and the front-facing camera is also 12MP. All cameras can record in 4K at 60fps, which is quite impressive. Both the front and rear cameras have stabilization, and the rear camera has optical image stabilization. You'll get great video quality and excellent stabilization. HDR video can also be shot with this phone, but you won't find cinematic video mode or portrait video mode here. When it comes to photos, they'll never disappoint you. All the cameras, both front and back, can shoot in Night Mode, which was previously available only in one rear camera of the iPhone 11. Here, it's an advantage for you. You can take portrait photos with all the cameras, whether it's a human, an animal, or any other object."
4.performance
The performance of this phone is amazing. You won't face any difficulties due to its A14 Bionic chipset and 4GB RAM with iOS. The 4GB RAM with iOS seems more than enough for you. You won't encounter any problems with RAM management, gaming, or any other tasks. This phone is excellent in every aspect, and I have a habit of always showing the Geekbench scores to have an idea of how different phones perform in terms of single-core and multi-core scores. It's a pretty decent score for daily tasks, and you won't face any issues. The GPU score is also excellent; if you compare it with a similar-priced Android phone, it's much better. It gives a GPU score of almost 10,000, which is quite impressive.
5.Negative
"The negative aspect is that it comes with a slightly larger base storage of 60GB, which might be a bit less by today's standards. After that, the 128GB version is available, but you'd need to spend an extra 4,000 to 5,000 for that. If you're willing to spend that much, perhaps considering the iPhone 13 with a base storage of 128GB might be better since there isn't much difference between the two. If you're a content creator, the Cinematic Mode might be essential, which is available in the iPhone 13 but not in the iPhone 12. For example, I can shoot 4K videos in Cinematic Mode with my 14 Pro Max, which the iPhone 13 can do in 1080p. If this is important for you, then opting for the iPhone 13 would be better.Lastly, in comparison to the iPhone 12, the iPhone 13 provides more value for money. How does it do so? As I mentioned earlier, it offers 128GB of base storage instead of 64GB, a chipset that's a generation ahead (A15 in iPhone 13 compared to A14 in iPhone 12), Cinematic Mode, higher display brightness (800nits in iPhone 13 compared to 625nits in iPhone 12), and a slightly smaller notch. While the notch size might not make much difference, the higher brightness would be noticeable, especially if you use your phone outdoors frequently. Therefore, for outdoor use, the iPhone 13 would be better than the iPhone 12 due to its higher brightness."
